CONTRIBUTE

Tell us what is missing.

The fastest way to grow the collection is to ask for what you need. Requests are logged privately and set the order in which sources are collected and released.

01

Request a dataset.

With the connection set up, ask your assistant to use research_question. Say which community, agency, record type and years you need, and add the official source URL if you know it.

Requests are not public posts, records requests to agencies, or guaranteed responses. Do not include confidential sources or personal information.

02

Report an error.

Use the same tool to name the dataset, the record ID, what looks wrong and the source evidence for the correction. Originals and earlier versions stay available after a correction.

Record IDs appear on every row the assistant returns and in every export file.

03

Contribute code or sources.

The project is open source. Useful contributions are source inventories, reproducible collectors, data dictionaries, validation checks and retained original documents, each with its access terms, reporting periods and known gaps.

What a good request looks like.

“Add City of Chula Vista council vote records for 2022 to 2026 from the city clerk’s Legistar site.”

“Record ID fppc803:…:Sheet1:13 lists the payor with a trailing space; the source workbook shows the same. Flag, do not alter.”

“Is County purchasing data for FY2025 collected? The inventory shows the source but no rows.”
